🚋 THE HEARTBEAT: NO TRAMS EAST OF EAST CROYDON FROM SATURDAY

From Saturday 24/10/2026 to Friday 06/11/2026, there will be no trams between East Croydon and New Addington, Elmers End or Beckenham Junction while TfL carries out track renewal work. Replacement buses are planned, so check the TfL Go app or journey planner for your route before you set off, especially if you are heading out for half-term.

The disruption has already begun. TfL says a track problem near Lebanon Road has closed that stop and suspended services between Arena and Elmers End this week, with specialist repairs needed. It expects the whole network to resume on 6 November after the half-term engineering closure. Inside Croydon also reports crowded trams on the Croydon to Wimbledon route this week, so allow extra time there too.

This year's proposal would continue it with a levy of 1.3% of a business's rateable value, and only businesses with a rateable value of £40,000 or more get a vote. Source: Croydon BID

🏪 BUSINESS SHOUTOUT: POP UP TOP UP CIC

🎨 Pop Up Top Up CIC is a Croydon-based creative youth enterprise organisation that helps young people turn their creativity into confidence, skills and real opportunities. Through workshops, pop-up markets, business challenges and hands-on experience in retail, marketing, sales and event delivery, it supports young people to explore entrepreneurship and try out their own business ideas.

What sets it apart is the learn-by-doing approach: young people develop products, trade at pop-up markets and work alongside businesses on real events. It has programmes ready for community groups, Pupil Referral Units, schools, colleges and universities, and it is looking to connect with local businesses and organisations that could host a programme, collaborate on delivery, share their expertise or support young people to turn ideas into reality.
