CROYDON LOCAL PULSE
Good morning, Croydon!
Google just dropped its biggest announcements in years at I/O 2026, and one thing stood out for local businesses: AI Overviews now has 2.5 billion monthly users, and Google's new "information agents" are scanning blogs, news sites, and social posts 24/7 to surface answers directly in search.
Here's the honest truth -- if your business only exists on a website, you're becoming invisible. But if you're part of a community newsletter, featured in a business spotlight, or mentioned in local content people actually read and share, you show up in exactly the kind of trusted, human-curated sources that AI still can't replicate.
That's why being part of Croydon Local Pulse whether as a Business Spotlight, a sponsor, or a community partner isn't just good marketing. It's future-proofing. Real stories, real people, real Croydon. The algorithm can't fake that.

Let's get into it.
☀️ Morning Pulse
🦅 Palace in Leipzig Tonight -- Croydon's Biggest Night in Years
Crystal Palace face Rayo Vallecano in the UEFA Conference League Final in Leipzig, Germany -- kick-off 8pm. A year after winning the FA Cup, the Eagles are chasing their first-ever piece of continental silverware. If you're not flying out, the official viewing party is at Selhurst Park. Come on you Eagles. 🔴🔵
🏨 £30m Luxury Resort Coming to Selsdon Park Estate
BH Group has acquired the former Birch Selsdon site and announced a £30m investment to transform it into "one of the UK's leading luxury resorts." Big news for Croydon's south -- a major regeneration play that could put the borough on the national hospitality map.
🥦 Coulsdon Fruit & Veg Seller Fined £100K Over Hygiene
A Coulsdon-based fruit and veg seller has been ordered to pay over £100,000 after Croydon Council found pigeon droppings, rat droppings, and gnawed food on produce. The prosecution followed a council inspection -- a reminder that food hygiene standards exist to protect all of us.
🏪 Business Spotlight
Rockbottom Music, London Road
Rockbottom Music | Music & Entertainment
For over 50 years, Rockbottom has been the heartbeat of Croydon's music scene. Founded by Carl Nielsen in 1975, this London Road institution has welcomed legends -- Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen -- and continues to serve the next generation of Croydon musicians through its seven fully-equipped basement rehearsal rooms.
What makes them special: Guitars stacked to the ceiling, 50+ years of heritage, and a genuine passion for music that no chain store can replicate. Carl, now in his 70s, has no plans to retire -- he calls it a passion project, not a job.
📍 London Road, Croydon
A Croydon institution that's been here longer than most of us -- go give them some love.
