🏛️ THE HEARTBEAT: TG JONES TO CLOSE IN THE WHITGIFT CENTRE
The yellow "everything must go" signs are up at TG Jones on North End. Inside Croydon reports that the shop, which traded as WH Smith until last summer, is closing, and that its owner Modella Capital has been restructuring its high street branches this year.
It is another loss for the Whitgift Centre, where WH Smith was one of the original tenants when the centre opened. The news arrives as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield runs its latest public consultation on the future of the town centre. Inside Croydon says the current proposals include as many as 4,000 flats and a data centre, and URW's plans are on its Croydon website at urwcroydon.com if you want to have your say.
We will pass on a closing date as soon as one is confirmed. Source: Inside Croydon
