Croydon is moving, making and connecting this week, from a long awaited bridge milestone to rooftop Pride, creative quests, outdoor cinema and community food.
🚧 PRACTICAL PULSE: BRIDGE WORKS BEGIN TOMORROW
Work on the long awaited East Croydon pedestrian railway bridge begins tomorrow, Wednesday, 19/08/2026, with contractor B&M McHugh carrying out site set up, surveys and investigations before the main construction phase.
Funding was finalised in July 2026 between Croydon Council, Network Rail and Menta Regeneration, with completion expected in 2027 after delays stretching back to 2012.
No closures or diversions have been announced in the verified updates, so do not assume your route will change. Check the latest arrangements before travelling and allow extra time around East Croydon Station, Addiscombe and the town centre.
💡 DID YOU KNOW?
The bridge is designed to create a direct, accessible connection between Addiscombe, East Croydon Station and the town centre, helping residents, commuters and visitors move through the borough more easily.
A creative session is confirmed for Wednesday, 19/08/2026, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm at Ruskin Square, west of East Croydon Station.
The listing invites local people to take part in Creative Quests, with the full activity details available through the original notice.

🚊 TRAM TRAVEL: CENTRAL SERVICES STAY DISRUPTED
Central Croydon tram services remain disrupted until Sunday, 23/08/2026, while track replacement works continue.
There is no tram service between Reeves Corner and East Croydon, with additional works scheduled for Thursday, 20/08/2026. Check the latest service information before setting off and allow extra time for your journey.
We are not adding replacement bus details here because the latest verified local report directs passengers to check current travel arrangements before travelling.
