🏛️ THE HEARTBEAT: FIVE PARKING PERMITS A HOME? WHAT CABINET DECIDES ON WEDNESDAY
Croydon households could be allowed five resident parking permits instead of three, under plans going to the Executive Mayor and Cabinet on Wednesday 14/10/2026. Cabinet is being asked to approve a Transport and Parking Strategic Direction for the borough, and to hand the review of the council's 2024 Parking Policy to the Corporate Director of Place. The lead member is Cllr Alasdair Stewart, Cabinet Member for Streets and Enforcement.
Here is what the review would look at:
🚗 Permits: raising the number of resident permits per household from three to five, and removing existing limits on permit availability "where appropriate". A third car already carries a £171 surcharge on renewal, according to Croydon Today.
🌳 Parks: new parking controls at parks and recreation grounds, with three hours free at country parks and recreation grounds.
♿ Blue Badges: a new annual Blue Badge permit for council car parks only. On-street Blue Badge concessions would not change, and the report says the aim is to tackle misuse and fraud.
🍽️ Evenings out: the strategy asks the council to explore up to three hours of free or discounted parking in council car parks near restaurants, evening venues, district centres and shopping parades. “Croydon Local Pulse supports this plan”
🛣️ 20mph limits: nothing changes on Wednesday. An evidence review runs from October to December 2026, and consultation on removing 20mph limits where the evidence supports it is pencilled in for July to September 2027.
The strategy also promises a Motorists' Forum, dedicated pothole patrols and a full Croydon Transport Strategy, drafted by June 2027.
What it means for you: nothing changes on the street straight away. The report does not name which streets, schools or parks would get new controls, and it gives no new prices. The money detail is due in later reports, including a fees and charges report in December. Price-only changes can be made by public notice, while new controls, permit rules or paid hours need a traffic order change with a 21-day statutory consultation, so those are the ones you can respond to.

Men, You've Been Misinformed
Men's skin is about 25% thicker than women's, but thicker skin doesn't mean better aging. It means delayed collapse. For years, your skin looks resilient. Then collagen declines, and when it does, it drops hard: deeper wrinkles, heavier under-eye bags, more dark spots showing up all at once.
Most men were never taught to get ahead of this. Women were. And by the time the signs show up, you're playing catch-up.
Particle Face Cream was built precisely for this. One 6-in-1 formula engineered for men's skin — reduces eye bags, dark spots, and wrinkles, restores firmness, hydrates deeply, and revives dull tone. No complicated routine. Over 1,000,000 men already use it. Try it risk-free with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

The list covers 1 January to 31 March 2026 and records civil penalties, not criminal convictions. 💡 DID YOU KNOW? A MINSTER ALTAR FRONTAL STILL KEEPS ITS SECRETS
Croydon Minster has an ornate altar frontal, and a search for its history has turned up a surprising trail: a tale from Shanghai, an ARP warden in the Second World War, freemasonry, a men's outfitters on Croydon High Street and a nurseryman. Local historian David Morgan, writing in Inside Croydon's Croydon Chronicles series, says the piece still retains its mysteries.
