A partial solar eclipse crosses the Croydon sky today, Wednesday 12/08/2026, with viewing opportunities from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Bingham Recreation Ground in Addiscombe, Kenley Airfield and School Common in Warlingham.
The eclipse is expected to be visible from approximately 6:17 pm to 8:06 pm, reaching maximum coverage at around 7:12 pm.
The Croydon Astronomical Society will also be at Kenley Airfield from 10:00 pm on Wednesday 12/08/2026 into the early hours of Thursday 13/08/2026 for the Perseid meteor shower, which peaks across 12/08/2026 and 13/08/2026.

💃 STREET DANCE SPARKS: YOUNG MOVERS TAKE THE FLOOR
Lively Squad brings a Summer Street Dance and Breaking Introduction Workshop to The Arc, Arcadia Caterham, today, Wednesday 12/08/2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
The session is designed for children aged 5 to 14, with beginners welcome to try street dance, breaking, games, creative challenges and a short routine in a friendly setting.
